Spoiler Alert: I totes wore sneans

Because we arrived in Thredbo when it was dark out, we had no idea really what to expect come morning.

So I was pleasantly surprised to wake up on Saturday morning to this gorgeous view! It was icy cold outside, but the skies were blue and the sun was shining – the perfect Winters day, in my book.

Because we weren’t able to snowboard on this trip, due to lack of actual snow, we decided to make the most of our surroundings by checking out the sights and just enjoying the peace and quiet of this little ski resort.

Road Trip to Thredbo

This year we decided to extend our July long weekend, and also celebrate our nine-year anniversary by spending a few days in Thredbo, NSW.

That very same weekend was also opening weekend for the snow season, but unfortunately a lack of actual snow meant that we were unable to get out our snowboards and carve up the mountain. Not that I could anyways, but at least I had planned on trying.

The drive to Thredbo took us longer than we expected, and by the time we arrived it was pitch dark. But, we got to see the Victorian countryside on our way, which was beautiful, and reminded me of home.

Let Us Be Frank

Today I want to talk about something I’m slightly obsessed with – Frank Coffee Scrub.

Mostly made up of ground coffee beans – with some added goodness – this stuff is amazing! It comes in three different flavours: Original, Coconut & Grapeseed, and their brand new Cacao.

So far I have only used the original one, but I also have (and can’t wait to try) their coconut version. Of course, I will totes have to get the cacao one too, because…..chocolate, duh.

Using Frank could not be easier. Basically you stand in the shower, dampen your skin, take a big old handful of the stuff and just rub it all over your body. Simples. You can use it on dry skin, but I found that the product is so much easier to apply, and goes a lot further when your skin is slightly wet.
Frank is totally safe to use on your face too, but I found that my skin was just a bit too sensitive for this type of exfoliation.

Crafting the Perfect Cupcake

A couple of years ago I was a woman obsessed, when it came to cupcakes. I enjoyed baking them, trying new recipes, and generally sharing them with my work-mates.
For the most part, they all tasted pretty good.
The hard part was making them look good.
No matter how hard I tried, the icing never looked right, and any attempts at creating delicate swirls or fluffy tops fell pretty flat.

So, as part of my 30 Things to do Before 30 Challenge, I wanted to attend a cupcake decorating lesson.

Cupcake4I was pretty stoked when my partner bought me a voucher for my birthday so I could attend said lesson.
I booked myself in for May 10th, and was pleased that I would finally be able to cross this off my list.

A Tale as old as Time

Three posts ago, I shared with you guys a recent obsession. With dolls.
But not just any dolls.
Of course, I am talking about the Disney Animators’ Collection series.

I currently have two of these beauties, although eventually I would like the whole lot of them. And a proper display shelf to house them all. Just saying.

You’ve seen Aurora, from my favourite Disney movie; so now it’s time to appreciate Belle, who I can probably relate to the most, being bookish and all.

Where we’re going, we don’t need roads

A couple of months ago, I discovered that Steamrail Victoria were having an open day at their Newport site. A biannual event (in March of this year), we decided to brave the crowds and go along.

I love train travel, so it was pretty cool to see some of their steam trains up close and personal.
Many of them were open for inspection, and some of the carriages were even set up for high tea, a work trip, or a snow adventure (complete with skis and fake snow!).

Unfortunately my camera died within minutes of us arriving, and I hadn’t bought my spare battery, so these photos were taken on my iPhone instead.

I’m not a huge fan of the ‘I’m still here/alive!’ blog posts. Mostly because I seem to do so many of them, and also because it just highlights how long it has been since I last posted.

I mean, six weeks? Really? I’m sorry, Internet.

The domain for my blog is due for renewal, and I was ‘this close’ to cancelling it altogether.

I’m not going to, but I do want to make the next 12 months worth my while, you know?

I’ve only been blogging for 2.5 years, and when I’m in it, I really enjoy writing and sharing my experiences here.

But lately, I just haven’t been motivated to do so.

Don’t take it personally, I haven’t had the motivation to do much.

I mostly blame the addition of a brand-new library in my neighbourhood. (Although, I’ve somehow found the motivation to write book reviews *looks sheepish*)

I was seriously like a kid in a bookstore when it opened. Or me, 20 years ago. And I’ve been reading my butt off ever since. Except that’s totally not a thing. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s getting bigger.

I have been reading SO much. I’m talking four books in the last month. That’s like a book a week, you guys. That is more than I read for the entire five months prior!

Anyways, the strangest part is that I actually have things I want to talk to you about.

For example, I was able to cross another ‘Thing‘ off my list. Can you guess which one?!

I still want to talk about my other Disney Animators’ Collection Doll.

I have a bunch of photos from different ‘weekend adventures’ that I think are worth sharing, but which have been sitting in my camera for months.

My partner and I spent a gloriously relaxing long weekend up in the mountains in June for our anniversary.

And, we got engaged!

So yeah, there are lots of wonderful things to stick around for. Just bear with me, while I find my feet here again.

It’s kind of like riding a bike, but without the uncomfortable seat or helmet hair.

A few of my favourite things
