Thing 2: Take a Visual Merchandising Job/Course
Okay, so this one I haven’t done. Ever since working at Pumpkin Patch in my early 20’s, I decided that I wanted to work in visual merchandising.
I loved organising the clothing into colour themes, arranging feature tables and setting up window displays.
I received some mentoring during the 9 or so months I worked there, and was told I was a bit of a natural.
That has always stuck with me, and it is still something I am interested in.
I mean, how fun would it be to set up a bedroom display in IKEA?!
But so far I just haven’t gotten around to doing anything about it.
Sure, I’ve looked up courses and even applied for a couple of jobs over the years – got a call back for one, too!
Unfortunately it was based in Sydney and they had accidentally listed it in the Melbourne section of the website.
Gutted.
